You saw (or "heard") it first. We are going to do our first annual "Freedom Music Awards." There was much debate about wether or not it should be done, and quite frankly, we agreed with many of the arguements:
1) Not another music award ceremony.
2) Politically motivated crap awards is what they should call them.
3) Do WE THE PEOPLE actually get to have a say?
4) Award shows are just a way for the industry to stick its chest out by awarding its favorite artist-of-the-moment (see MTV awards).
We agree to some extent. So we decided to put up a few of our favorites of the moment. At some point in the near future, we'll be putting up a nomination page, or add the content to this page.
We'll pick the winners based on a people-submitted poll circulated online and offline. Patrons will also get to tell us if there is a category worthy of mentioning! Then there is the issue of industry...We'll ask a select group of movers, shakers, and tastemakers for their opinion, but again, this is about what the PEOPLE think.
